It’s Here! L. A. County Fair Labor Day Weekend

Simone Graham – Editor: For me the reward for toughing through and getting to the end of summer is the L. A. County Fair. It is hot up here in the high desert, not Palm Springs hot, but hot enough to be glad the summer heat is tapering off toward fall season. That means it is time to open your fair jar and take out all those quarters and dimes you have saved up for your favorite, guilty-pleasure fair food! As for me? I go straight for the roasted corn stall close to the Fine Arts building, make sure I buy a bag of Peanuttles behind the flower show area , and sometime during the day I get a chocolate dipped vanilla ice cream bar rolled in roasted, chopped almonds. Then, of course, there is lunch or dinner, depending on how we stack the day. Hmmm…what to choose, what to choose? This year I am going to participate in the Route 66 tribute and look for one of the $6.60 deals below.

Look for the California license plate to know which vendors have a $6.60 item on their menu. Here are just a few to give you an idea of what to expect. See the rest at https://lacountyfair.com/eat/660-value-menu—la-county-fair-2018 :

Tickets:

The highest price ticket is an adult weekend ticket, $20; the least expensive parking is $15. Twenty dollars? That seems kind of high. What do they want, blood? Actually, yes, they will take that, too. The upside is you get a free fair ticket good for any day for your donation. Check the links below for blood donation schedules. If you have days off during the week, there are deals on Wednesdays and Thursdays for food or school supply donations again this year. Senior free day is every Wednesday starting at noon. The $5.00 Passport to Savings includes a weekday fair ticket. The fair is closed Monday and Tuesday, but open this Monday for the Labor Day holiday. Here are your links for fair admission prices and entertainment. Click on the license plates to get the drop-down menus to show.
