P.C.R.A. Sheriff’s Rodeo, Kid’s Camp, Music & Party, Dancers Sept. 28 – 30

Simone Graham – Editor: The 19th Annual San Bernardino County Sheriff’s P.R.C.A Rodeo is coming to the Glen Helen Regional Park on Friday, September 28th through Sunday, September 30th, 2018. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday and the rodeo starts at 8:00 pm. Challenged Children’s Rodeo will be held at 5:00 pm, on Saturday before the main event. Gates open at 2:00 pm on Sunday and the rodeo starts at 6:00 pm.

The world’s top professional cowboys and cowgirls will be performing bareback and saddle bronc riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, barrel racing and team roping. Also, performing will be Professional Rodeo Entertainer, Danger Dave Whitmoyer http://dangerdavewhitmoyer.com/
A new addition to this year’s rodeo, supporting our mission to give back to our youth in the community, will be Mutton Busting http://www.pcjbr.org/. Each night young cowboys and cowgirls of the Pacific Coast Junior Bull Riders will be competing for your enjoyment.

Friday night’s rodeo is dedicated to raising awareness of Domestic Violence. The rodeo will be donating to the “Man Up Crusade” with a donation to a local domestic violence shelter. Wear purple to the rodeo – Take A Stand and Break the Cycle of Domestic Violence.

For Saturday, September 29th, the event asks, “Are you Tough Enough to Wear Pink?” Wear pink to the rodeo and show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness. The rodeo will be making a donation to Loma Linda University Hospital for breast cancer awareness.

A dance follows Friday and Saturday night’s rodeos featuring Brad Johnson and Killin’ Time Band under the big tent.

On Sunday, September 30th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, there will be a PRCA Championship Youth Rodeo Camp held at the rodeo grounds. Do you have a child over the age of 8 interested in becoming a rodeo athlete or learning more about the sport of rodeo? The camp curriculum includes an introduction to rough stock events with an emphasis on safety, fundamentals, chute procedures, livestock safety, and an overview of riding equipment. On Sunday, at 4:30 pm, the big tent features the Folklorico Dance Company specializing in the art of dance from the state of Mexico http://www.resplandordemexico.com/. Come early and enjoy their performance.

Sunday’s rodeo performance is dedicated to our Public Safety Personnel. A joint honor guard team comprised of members from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, San Bernardino Police Department, and San Bernardino County Fire will be posting the colors, followed by a moment of silence before the start of the event.

Tickets are $15.00 on Friday, $20.00 on Saturday, and only $10.00 on Sunday. Children 6 and under are free each night; parking is $5.00. Tickets are available online beginning September 1st, visit our website at http://www.sheriffsrodeo.

Arrive early and meander among the merchandise vendors and partake in the food and beverages that will be available. The rodeo grounds are located in Devore a short distance from the I-15/I-215 interchange. Take the Devore turn off or Glen Helen Parkway.

Proceeds from the event continue to support the youth in local communities, with the ultimate goal of developing them into responsible citizens. Cash donations will be given to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, the Challenged Children’s Rodeo, Children’s Fund, the 4H Club of San Bernardino, the Yucaipa Equestrian Center, the California State Horsemen’s Association, Loma Linda University Hospital for breast cancer research, Man Up Crusade – bringing awareness to Domestic Violence, and several service clubs.
